Build #9 · Week 7 · Ships Friday, Jul 17
BuildingADD Toolkit
Small, forgiving tools for people who struggle with ADD. Break the scary task into steps tiny enough to start, find your way back after a distraction, get the noise out of your head. Built for the forty-tabs-open brain, not the three-tab brain most productivity apps assume.
The idea
What it is & why I'm building it
Most productivity tools quietly assume a brain that can already prioritize, start, and stay on task. Then they charge the people they fail a monthly subscription. If you struggle with ADD, you know the pattern: a new system, a hopeful week, a missed day, a broken streak, and one more app in the graveyard. The system was never built for how your brain actually works.
ADD Toolkit is the opposite bet. A handful of small, forgiving tools, each solving one hard moment of an ADD day. Nothing to fall off of, because there is no streak, no setup, no system. You show up on a bad brain day, use the one tool you need, and leave.
The plan going into the week is four tools: a task breaker that turns one scary, avoided task into steps so small that starting stops being a decision. A re-entry note, one box that answers "what was I doing" after the inevitable derail. A two-minute starter that asks for almost nothing and gets you moving. And a brain-dump inbox that gets the noise out of your head without demanding you organize it first.
The build
How it's being built
Same weekly loop as every build. Picked Monday, scoped hard, built through the week, ships Friday, July 17. The scope cap matters double here: the entire product thesis is smallness, so every "wouldn't it be great if" goes straight to the later list. Four tools, each doing one job well, no accounts required to start.
Monetization is deliberately not this week's problem. Weeks 5 and 6 taught me what happens when the money layer holds the product hostage, so this one ships free and useful first. The likely shape later is a one-time pro tier, in keeping with how everything at SideRoad gets priced: once, honestly, no subscription. But that decision comes after real people use it.
One more thing that is different this time: the ask went out before the build. If you have ADD, or love someone who does, and one small tool would genuinely help on a bad brain day, tell me before Thursday and it might be in the toolkit on Friday.
The numbers
Analytics so far
Nothing to show yet, it is Monday of build week. The launch numbers, visitors, tool usage, and eventually revenue, go right here once it is live, honest zeros and all.
The recap
Lessons & results
Nothing to recap yet, the build ships Friday. The full write-up of what worked, what flopped, and what real users with ADD actually reached for lands here after launch. The week 7 build log has the day-one story: Week 7: Building an ADD Toolkit.
