Build #10 · Side build · Launched Jul 18, 2026

Live

PitchLite

Every podcast-pitching course is written by pitch senders. PitchLite is written from the other side of the inbox, by a host who receives 3-7 cold pitches a day and deletes almost all of them. Six modules, twenty real pitches annotated line by line, and a free pitch checker built from actual deletion instincts.

The idea

What it is & why I built it

The insight is positional: agencies charge $1,375+ a month to write podcast pitches, courses teach pitching from the sender's side, and none of them have ever sat where the host sits, reading real pitches every morning and deciding in about three seconds, delete or reply. PitchLite is built from the delete key backwards: what triggers the instant delete, and what makes a host stop, reread, and hit reply.

The core constraint is the product: 500 characters. Roughly eighty words for a hook, one credibility line, one specific angle, and an ask. The playbook argues, with twenty real annotated pitches as evidence, that brevity beats context every single time, because hosts decide in seconds and length itself is a signal that you value your time over theirs.

It sells as a one-time purchase with a public founding ladder: $149 for the first 50 buyers, then $199, then $249, no fake countdown timers, the price moves when seats fill. Lifetime updates included, and the library grows whenever the inbox teaches a new pattern.

The build

How it was built

Structurally, this is the ShipWolf muscle exercised a second time: a knowledge product with a free tool as its front door. The playbook is six modules of written material and annotated real pitches, three shipping on day one and three landing within two weeks, which makes the lifetime-updates promise visible from week one rather than a footnote. Checkout runs through Gumroad, 30-day refunds, no questions.

The free layer is the marketing engine, straight from the free-tools playbook this site preaches: the Pitch Scorer runs the host's first-three-seconds deletion checks on any pasted pitch plus an AI teardown against the framework, a free 500-character pitch kit PDF gives away the skeleton, and the Deleted at Second 3 newsletter carries what is working in the inbox right now. Every free piece does a real job and points at the paid one.

One build note for the honest record: the AI-assisted drafting was filtered through the only judgment that matters here, a real host's actual deletion instincts, because AI-written pitches are half the reason inboxes got this bad, and a playbook about them cannot itself be slop.

Fresh zeros, counters live. The founding ladder is public on the site, so seat sales will be visible there and posted here. The free Pitch Scorer's usage is the leading indicator to watch: tool users become buyers.

The recap

Lessons & results

Too early for results, but the thesis is on record: information products work when the author has genuine positional advantage, and receiving the pitches is a position no pitch-writing competitor occupies. The founding-ladder pricing and the ship-in-public module rollout are both experiments in visible honesty as marketing. Results land here as the seats fill, or don't.
