Week 14: Building a Claude Skill for Organization

It is Monday of week 14, the journal is back on its weekly rhythm, and this week's build is a skill for Claude that helps with organization. That is deliberately all the product detail you get today: the name and the exact shape land at ship on Friday, September 4. What I can give you now is the reasoning, because this is the third time in a row the portfolio has reached for the same bet, and the bet deserves to be stated out loud.

The skill-economy thesis

Three data points, in order. TextScrubr shipped as a free web tool with a $29 Claude skill behind it, and in August that skill sold its first copy, the project's first product revenue. Last week, BuiltByBadge shipped as a skill outright: the file is the product, there is no server, no account, no service that can go down. And this week's build is a skill from day one. The pattern is not an accident. Skills, the files that teach an AI assistant a repeatable job, are quietly becoming their own distribution surface: the closest thing the AI era has to an app store, except there is no gatekeeper, no review queue, no thirty percent cut, and the product lives inside a tool people already open every day. For a solo builder, that is the best set of terms on the internet right now.

Why organization, of all jobs

Because it is the job people actually hire their AI for a hundred small times a week, badly, with a fresh prompt every time: the scattered notes, the fifteen open threads, the plan that lives in four places. A skill's whole advantage is turning a job you re-explain constantly into one you never explain again. I am saying no more than that until Friday, partly for the reveal, mostly because week 7 taught me that what a build is on Monday is not always what ships: the ADD toolkit collapsed into RSD Decoder by Friday, and it shipped better for it. The scope is small, the loop is the standard one, and whatever it becomes, it ships Friday with its numbers published.

The other numbers this Monday

The scoreboard as week 14 opens: $79 earned total, $45.19 of it in August, the best month yet. Twelve builds live, and the first audience movement on record: X went from 12 followers to 29 over the month, with the account now following 69 builders and operators, because showing up in other people's threads is the unglamorous half of how the followed become the following. Subscribers still sit at zero, which remains the most honest number on the site and the one the distribution plan exists to move. One build ships Friday. See you at the reveal.
